Service Detail: Bill Payments

Account holders can pay bills without the need to draw and transmit cash, using our simple and efficient bill payment facility.

To pay a bill simply:

  • Write on the bill "Please pay" and sign underneath.  If you do not wish to pay the full amount, please write on how much you do wish to pay.

  • If you know it, or if you have more than one, write on your account number.

  • Either present the bill at the bank, or in Jamestown leave it in the Bill Payments Postbox just inside the banking hall.  You may also post or fax it to us.

  • We will pay the bill into the recipient's bank account.

  • Proof of payment will appear on your bank statement.

Please note that this facility is only available where the issuer of the bill has an account at the Bank of St. Helena.  Payments are made the day we receive them - we do not have the facility to accept instructions in advance.

Other ways to pay bills

Bills with fixed amounts and regular periods can be paid by Standing Order.

Bills with variable amounts and periods can be paid by Direct Debit.

Use of one of these methods ensures that the payment will always be made on time, and removes the need for you to visit the bank or the billing organisation to make your payment.  Proof of payment will appear on your bank statement.

Eligible Accounts

Bill Payments can only be made from a Current Account.
