Bank of St Helena Limited is seeking to recruit a suitable person to fill the new and exciting position of an Insurance Manager.
Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director, the Insurance Manager will monitor and be responsible for the management of Insurance Policy sales, Underwriting and Claims.

• Overseeing the Insurance team and provide customer support on a daily basis.
• Ensure the section is operational, efficient and compliant at all times.
• Deliver first-class service to customers, whilst adhering to processes and procedures.

Hours of Work:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Average of 35 hrs per week. It is expected that hours of work will be determined by the nature of the post and requirements of the Bank and could include some weekend/after-hours work.
Location:Â
Bank of St Helena Office premises or other sub-offices/branches as these are developed.
To develop and implement risk management strategies, to monitor sales, manage
underwriting and claims. To train and manage the Insurance team and ensure the
department processes and procedures deliver first-class service to customers ensuring
adherence to regulations in collaboration with Caribbean Alliance.
• Oversee daily insurance operations, including supervising staff and managing
underwriting process and the processing of claims.
• Supervise the underwriting and claims processes in collaboration with Caribbean
Alliance to ensure timely and fair resolution of all claims while minimising
financial exposure.
• Oversee the life cycle of insurance policies, including issuance, renewals and
cancellations, ensuring all terms are met and records are accurate.
• Oversee the management of receivables.
• Develop and implement strategies to identify and mitigate financial and
operational risks associated with insurance policies.
• Manage the Insurance partnership with Caribbean Alliance including the review of
processes, procedures and policies and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Develop and execute strategies to drive the sales of insurance products to
expand the business portfolio.
• Supervise, mentor and train insurance staff, setting performance goals and
providing guidance on regulations and Bank policies.
• Communicate with customers regarding policy queries, claims, resolve disputes
and collaborate with other Bank Functions.
• Maintain and grow strong relationships with customers to secure optimal
coverage and negotiate favourable terms.
• Monitor performance metrics, prepare reports on insurance program
performance and use data to improve efficiency
• Ensure that all operations and staff adhere to regulations, internal bank policies
and Caribbean Alliance protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
• GCSE’s in Mathematics and English at Grade C or above (or similar qualification
in Accounts), preferred;
• A professional qualification in business administration, finance and or risk
management or be willing to work towards one;
• Must have knowledge of the delivery of insurance products;
• Proficiency in IT skills, including Microsoft Applications;
• Good academic background;
• Experience of working in a customer service environment.
• Be able to work flexible hours to meet deadlines and the requirements of the
Bank, which will mean working outside normal working hours;
• Have the ability to liaise effectively to manage customer expectations and
demands;
• Have an approachable attitude to all customers, both internally and externally.
